SS Filters Pvt. Ltd. serves the filtration needs of three major markets categorized as Aero power, Healthcare and fluid processing. Specific markets falling under this umbrella are served through us. The filters supplied to the food and beverage division comply with the filtration requirement of these industries. Our technical specialist support customers with their expertise in recommending and designing filtration systems for many facets of food and beverage processing.

The schematic guide is designed to provide you with information on our products for the food and beverage industry and their general applications in various processes. All the filters described in this process are made from materials that are either FDA listed or commonly used (ie Stainless Steel and glass fiber) in food contact applications.

Following handling & installation of filter, it is good practice to flush filter assemblies thoroughly before use. We also manufacture a complete line of industrial & sanitary style filter housings for all types of industry. These housings are capable of handling a wide range of flow rates up to several hundred gallons per minute.

Microbial Stabilization:

Filtration, through the mechanism of removing microbial contaminants from selected food & beverage fluid is one method which can be used to achieve microbially stable products. Filtration provides the following benefits:

Biotechnologically derived food additives are natural flavours & ingredients produced by the process of fermentation. SS Filters products are widely used in the manufacturing of food additives such as

  • Enzymes used in food processes

Features & Benefits:

  • Nominal rated PP Pleated filter cartridge are used as prefilters for air. For prefiltration of additives and purified products, more open, micro glassfiber media can be used. It gives higher flow rates and good particulate removal.
  • Absolute rated, naturally hydrophobic PTFE filters, reliably minimise contamination of inlet air by providing complete bacterial retention under moist or dry operating conditions.
  • Sterilisation/ purification of feed water, nutrient additives, pH adjusts and antifoam agents using absolute rated Nylon 66 & PES membrane filters results in improved product yields.

Tank Vent Filtration:

Maintaining bulk storage tanks is an important part of a plants quality control programme. To minimise the risk of introducing moisture and air borne contaminants through tank, SS Filters recommends the use of naturally hydrophobic absolute rated PTFE membrane filter cartridge. They provide bacteria free air under moist or dry conditions. These filters can withstand multiple inline steam sterilisation cycles. In general, the benefits are:

  • Maintain sanitary conditions of product storage
  • Increase product yields
  • Reduce risk of product contamination
  • Improve product quality

Point- of -use air prefiltration:

Where carbon steel or mild steel air piping is used, considerable quantities of rust will be present, contributing to filter pressure drop. Nominal rated PP Pleated filter cartridges are recommended for removal of particulates from air streams to protect more expensive PTFE sterilising grade filters. In general, the benefits are:

Point- of- use sterile air filtration:

Naturally hydrophobic absolute rated PTFE membrane filter cartridge is the choice for providing sterile point-of-use air or gas filtration in:

  • Aseptic packaging
  • Aeration of products
  • Preflushing containers prior to filling
  • Distribution of food ingredients
  • Purging
  • Tank vent filtration

Features & Benefits:

  • SS Filters SS 316 Sintered filter cartridges are effective in providing culinary grade steam by removing rust & pipe scale from process steam. High quality steam prevents fouling of aseptic processing units & extends the life of filter sterilised with this steam.
  • SS Filters Microglass fiber prefilters together with 0.2 microns sterilising grade absolute rated Nylon 66 or PES final filters provide optimum throughput of water used in operating aseptic processing equipment. This results in less frequent filter change out.
  • SS Filters absolute rated, naturally hydrophobic PTFE filters provide assurance of product quality when used in sterilising air for product filling & sterilising purge gases for package sealing.

SS Filters products are used in numerous applications, from visual clarity to microbial retention to ensure high quality products.

Features & Benefits:

  • For critical applications requiring the removal of listeria, salmonella, bacteriophage or other microbial contaminants from air/ gases/ liquids, SS Filters offer a range of integrity testable membranes including absolute rated Nylon 66 & PES media.
  • Absolute rated PTFE membrane filter are specifically designed for air/ gas and vent filtration. Because the membrane is inherently hydrophobic, bacteria-free air is obtained under moist or dry conditions.
  • Culinary grade steam for direct food contact is obtained with SS Filters SS 316 Sintered filter cartridge.

Plant water to be used in any type of industry is often treated to make it safe and sanitary for many aspects of processing including:

  • Product formulation
  • Rinsing product containers prior to filling
  • Washing surfaces and process equipment
  • Sanitizing process filters and equipment
  • Aseptic processing equipment

Pretreatment of water is dependent on quality of incoming industrial water supplies.
SS Filters filtration products are generally used following primary pretreatment methods such as sedimentation, chlorination and sand filtration and in combination with additional purification methods.

Steam

Common uses of steam in any processing industry include general equipment sanitization, sterilisation of filters and process equipment, operating thermal process equipment and direct contact with food products.

Particulate removal

Steam may contain significant amounts of pipe scale and debris.

Removal of these particulate contaminants from process steam is required to:

  • Prevent product contamination
  • Reduce equipment downtime
  • Prevent a reduction in process efficiency
  • Prevent fouling of equipment critical orifices, filters and process equipment.

Culinary grade stream

For direct contact with food and beverage products culinary grade stream is required which is used by using 1 or 5 microns SS Sintered or SS Pleated filter cartridges.
